Bats in underground shleters

Several species (Miniopterus schreibersii, Rhinolophus euryale) form big maternity colonies in underground shelters. In winter many species of forest bats and building-dweller bats can be also found in caves and mines, because the stable temperature and humidity ensures an excellent environment for hibernation. We observed nearly 30 different underground sites and found some valuable colonies. We monitor the caves and mines where signifcant maternity, temporary migrating or hibernating populations can be found.
